What sources of data are included in a reliability program?
A typical reliability program collects and analyzes data from the following sources:
  • Unscheduled removal rates
  • Confirmed failure rates
  • Pilot reports
  • Sampling inspections
  • Shop findings
  • Functional checks
  • Bench checks
  • Service difficulty reports
  • Mechanical interruption summaries
  • In-flight shutdown rates
  • Other sources the operator considers appropriate

While all of the above-listed sources of information may not be part of every reliability program, the availability of this data provides the operator with a wealth of information that can be used to improve safety of flight and aircraft reliability and to reduce maintenance costs.
