When and why did EmpowerMX begin business?
EmpowerMX was incorporated in June of
1999 to offer unique software solutions to the aircraft maintenance
industry. The company leadership believed that the industry
needed new automated tools to provide critical intelligence
at the task-card level in order to dramatically improve performance
in maintenance operations.
What is unique about the EmpowerMX solution?
The EmpowerMX FleetCycle® software
suite was developed through the eyes and experiences of maintenance
professionals with the idea of transforming traditional processes
and paper-based documentation via today’s technologies. It
is the only solution that brings the power of database technologies,
wireless communications and a Web-browser interface to the
hangar floor and line stations where maintenance is performed. Real-time
intelligence is then distributed to stakeholders throughout
the maintenance and engineering organization.
What products are included in the EmpowerMX
FleetCycle® software suite?
The EmpowerMX FleetCycle® software
suite currently includes five products designed to meet the
operational and data management requirements of maintenance
and engineering departments in major and regional air carriers. The
EmpowerMX FleetCycle® Production Manager was developed
to optimize heavy and light maintenance checks usually conducted
in the hangar environment. The EmpowerMX FleetCycle® Maintenance
Program Manager was developed specifically to address
the planning, scheduling and tracking needs of major and regional
airlines. The EmpowerMX FleetCycle® Line Manager has
been designed for planning, scheduling and tracking maintenance
operations at line stations. The EmpowerMX FleetCycle®
MRO Manager has been designed to support MRO organizations
conducting third-party maintenance for operators. The EmpowerMX
FleetCycle® Reliability Manager has been designed
to acquire and export maintenance department information to
other EmpowerMX FleetCycle® products and/or customer legacy
and enterprise resource planning systems supporting reliability
functions.
What payback period can I expect for
my investment in these products?
Under a variety of scenarios developed
using general airline industry standards and specific client
information, payback periods ranged from three to ten months. As
with most analyses of this type, the actual payback period
is dependent on the scope of the project, specific client
information and the customer implementation plan.
What benefits other than financial can
I expect from the installation of the system?
Although ultimately most of the system
benefits do translate to improvement in financial performance,
there are some benefits that may be more difficult to quantify
than others. Among these are: support of all regulatory agency
and company documentation requirements, elimination of lost
or misplaced paperwork; improved communications among mechanics,
crew chiefs and managers; proactive resolution of task sequencing
issues; providing an accurate historical basis for continuous
improvement at the task level; and ensuring that skilled labor,
parts and tools are available at the right time.
How long does system installation take?
Initial installation in a single hangar
bay or station can be accomplished in as little as two months,
including hardware acquisition and user training for direct
and support personnel. The schedule for additional bays or
stations is dependent on customer implementation plan requirements.
Are the EmpowerMX FleetCycle® products
difficult to use?
The products were designed with keen
attention to the needs of users in the maintenance organization. Input
from mechanics, inspectors and managers was utilized to build
user-friendly and intuitive products. Training in the classroom
and on the job, if needed, further assures that all participants
have the requisite skills and comfort-level to fully utilize
the products.
